There are a lot of things an individual must do before interviewing a scientist. Here, I'm going tell you how to prepare to nail your interview.
There was a workshop on Proyect Base Learning last Friday September 13, 2019. The workshop was presented by the doctoral student, Ana Fernández Ruíz. Proyect Base Learning is"an effective teaching model that focuses the learning process on a real project that is relevant to the student". In CIRE2N, we use this learning process with our students. They learn while engaging in activities and research in Environmental Nanotechnology with scientists from different universities. This workshop, that was atended by 15 CIRE2N students, helps them understand this teaching model so they know how to use it in the future. #NSFfunded #NSFCrest
Elvira Cuevas, an Ecologist and one of CIRE2N's researchers, was interviewed in the TV program Día a Día regarding the fires in the Amazon. Dr. Cuevas did her doctoral thesis in San Carlos de Río Negro in the Venezuelan Amazon. She now works with the IRG 1- Nanomaterials for Water and Soil Remediation. Video #NSFfunded #NSFCrest
During the first week of the Nano Envi Summer Camp both students and teachers attended workshops that are going to help them throughout their journey as part time researchers. One of these workshops was given by Dr. Liz Diaz, one of CIRE2N's CoPI. She did a presentation on how to communicate science effectively, being a researcher and a communicator herself. The workshop was very dynamic. Dr. Diaz created activities that made it possible for students and teachers to understand what she means when she says science can be accesible to all through the act of effective communication. #NSFfunded [...]
We are participating in a video competition where we share the innovations of our research to the world. The video represents our research and how we contribute to the natural reserve of the Ciénaga las Cucharillas and El Corredor del Yaguazo through it. Support us by voting! Our video is titled NSF-CREST P.R. Center for Environmental Nanotechnology CIRE2N. To vote for us, select the Vote for Public Choice option and share our video. https://stemforall2019.videohall.com/presentations/1573 #STEMvideohall #NSFfunded #NSFCrest
During a workshop given by Dr. Bonny Ortiz last friday, CIRE2N students learned how to make animations to educate and communicate science to the community. They'll be able to use this later to portray their research with these techniques, making science more accesible and exciting to all. March 29, 2019 the second part of this workshop will be given by Dr. Bonny Ortiz in the analytical chemistry laboratory at 9:00 a.m. #NSFfunded #NSFCrest
Cire2n students are working hard in the design of Nano-Ambiente. An educational journal that seeks to make Nanotechnology and Environmental Science accesible to the community. Stay tuned for more details. We will be announcing the release soon. #NSFfunded #NSFCrest
The petals of a range of flowers harbour repeated patterns of nanostructures that show similar levels of disorder across species. This degree of disorder produces a blue halo of scattered light that helps bees to find flowers.
