It is critical to train and educate the new and diverse workforce of scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs that our nation urgently needs. As a strategy to collaborate in achieving this goal and to strengthen the outputs of the current nanotechnologies being developed at the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras, a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), herein, we present the CREST-Center for Innovation, Research, and Education in Environmental Nanotechnology (CIRE²N). This Center, with participants from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, Mayagüez, and Cayey Campuses, will be dedicated to the development of nanomaterials and devices to address environmental issues with the use of nanomaterials: a field called environmental nanotechnology.

K-12 STUDENTS

At CIRE²N K-12 students and teachers will have the opportunity to participate in an Environmental Nanotechnology Summer Camp.

K-12 TEACHERS

CIRE²N’s education and outreach team is dedicated to bring nanoscience into the classroom by distributing educational material K-12 teachers can implement in the classroom.
